To safeguard office employees against a waste of time, your IT department can take advantage of just one small tool - Pingotron. It uses a reliable method of ping queries to monitor all devices connected to a local network. It’s pretty easy to use and allows solving minor troubles before they grow into serious problems. Pingotron works in the following way. It sends queries to the host over a time interval that you can specify and alerts you if there are any problems. For your convenience, you can link hosts to create group lists (for example, one for PCs, another for printers). For each host, Pingotron logs such parameters as current, minimal, maximal and average response time along with the percentage of lost packages. Thus, if you were absent, you can simply check the log history for any failures. The data can be viewed either in a graphical or numeric mode at your favor. Pingotron has two versions: standard and PRO. Pingotron PRO has all the features from the standard version and offers enhanced functionality. It allows monitoring communication channels in TCP/IP networks. That comes in handy when you want to trace the signal between the routers. Hosts and communication channels have separate lists, so you can work with both lists or with a certain one. Also Pingotron PRO logs failure data where you can see when the ping failed, how long it lasted and when it was fixed. Finally, it can analyze ping parameters for a given period of time and show you the detailed statistics in numeric and graphical formats. Pingotron has various ways of notifying the user about a ping failure. The program can inform you directly by a sound alarm or a blinking tray icon, as well as send a message to a remote PC via e-mail or network. You will know if something goes wrong right away.
